This is short but the other day we went to dinner at Del Taco to wear the kids out before bed and while Lindsay was playing, there was a little girl who was too short to get up on the ledge and Lindsay looked at her and said, “Oh, it’s okay. I’ll help you.” And then she helped her all the way up the thing. Jeffy and I were so proud of her. The little girls parents were standing there and they told us that she was very sweet to help her. She really is the sweetest girl.

Last night Jeff and I took Lindsay on a date. We got a babysitter for Logan and we spent some quality time with just Lindsay. Lindsay is currently in a gymnastics class at The Little Gym and she absolutely LOVES it!! She has so much fun tumbling and running and just being silly. Lately, I have been recording the news at night and then watching it the next morning and every time they have something about gymnastics on the sports section, Lindsay has to/needs to watch it over and over again. Thank goodness for TiVo! She just can’t get enough of them and loves to see them flip and bounce around. So, after that I thought she would enjoy going to see it in person and so Jeffy and I got us all tickets to the Utah vs. BYU gymnastics meet last night up at the U. So, we took Lindsay to dinner first at The Olive Garden (obviously not her choice) and then we headed on up there.

The seats we had were perfect! We could see all the equipment really well and we weren’t too high. We thought maybe we wanted to be in the first 10 rows or so so that she could see it really well, but row 25 was perfect.

We got there a little late because apparently the U doesn’t have a parking garage for the sports arena so Jeffy had to drive around to find a parking spot, but all we missed were them introducing the girls. So, the first two things they did were the uneven bars and the vault and Lindsay was so excited she couldn’t sit still!! She was amazed at how fast they were running and flipping and landing on two feet. At her gymnastics class they pretend they have sticky tape on the bottom of their feet to help them land on both feet and so she kept saying, “Look, mommy! She had sticky tape!”

She would clap really hard for each girl and got really concerned when one girl hurt her knee when landing from the vault. After they did the uneven bars and the vault they switched to the beam and the floor routines and Lindsay was bored. I knew she would like the uneven bars the best because that’s her favorite part of gymnastics so when she got bored we knew it was time to leave. We did watch a few beam routines and floor routines but then we left. We stayed for about an hour. On our way home we stopped at Cold Stone and got some ice cream and Lindsay got the cotton candy flavor. She said it tasted like blueberry.

It was a really fun night and Jeffy and I had a lot of fun just focusing on Lindsay. She had a blast and will probably talk about the “big girls doing flips” for a long time. We love you Lindsay!

I thought I would just post a picture of the kids in their Easter best. We had a wonderful Easter and had very good lessons in church about our Savior. This was the best picture we got of the both of them because Logan would not stand still.

Those of you with boys will understand this entry. Logan has brought many new and weird surprises to me as a mom. Having Lindsay first didn’t really prepare me for anything because she was such an angel. You probably think I’m joking but seriously she was. She never got into anything, never colored on walls, never threw fits (well, not many), was only in time out two times that I can think of and was always SO SWEET!! I was feeling pretty good about myself as a mom and was thinking ‘hey, this is pretty easy!’ And then Logan came into our lives. The first 6 months were pretty easy. He was a VERY easy baby once we figured out which formula he liked, and as long as his tummy was full he was happy. Then when he was 6 months old, out of nowhere, these fits came on. That’s right, you read it right, 6 months!!! I remember at his 6 month checkup mentioning it our pediatrician and he was like, ‘Really? Fits? That’s pretty early.” But Logan knows what he wants and if you take it away he lets you know about it. It wasn’t too bad at first but now he pretty much just throws fits, which sometimes is super cute but other times I’ve just had enough. I’m also pretty sure that the word ‘no’ isn’t in Logan’s little vocabulary. He just chooses not to listen to you. The other thing that Logan brought with him is constant ouchies!! The kid falls down all the time! Last week he hurt himself like 6 times, three of which were bleeders! I guess boys will be boys! Lindsay would get bruises but she didn’t bleed much. But even though Logan brings us many challenges, he is also SO SWEET! He gives the best kisses and we’re working on hugs. We are so happy he came to be with us. I’m so extremely happy to have them both in my life and for the different kids that they are. Life wouldn’t be any fun if they were the same. My favorite part of the day is when they are playing with each other, whether it’s wrestling or chasing each other around the house. There is something so sweet about your kids having fun with each other and giving you a moment to relax and just watch. Kids are the best and I wouldn’t exchange my life for anything else. I love you Lindsay and Logan!

While we were outside playing Logan and Jeffy played together on the grass. It was so cute to see them playing and having fun together. Logan adores Jeffy now and hates to see him leave anywhere. He knows that Jeffy works in the basement and sometimes he’ll just stand by the basement door waiting. They are so cute! About the last picture: Sometimes when they’re playing, Jeffy forgets how long Logan’s legs are and he’ll put him down on his tummy and Logan will kick him where it counts. Not on purpose, of course.

Today was a beautiful day and we did so much! Logan and I took a really long 3 hour nap together and afterwards we took the kids outside to play and to enjoy the wonderful spring weather. We wanted to take them out back to the swing set but there is still mud right next to the house so we just took some chalk, bubbles and spoons to play with in the front yard. We have a flower garden right by our porch steps and we only have two day lily plants there and so I let the kids dig in the dirt around the flowers and they’re really good about not digging the flowers up. Anyway, while we were out there playing we heard the ice cream truck and so we ran and got some money and waited on the sidewalk for him. He stopped at the corner first and then came our way and Lindsay was so excited! She enjoyed her green Popsicle which she said tasted like ‘greenberry’ and Logan didn’t really know what to do with his. He ended up just kind of using it as a hammer and hitting the ground with it. I’m so glad they still have ice cream trucks! It was so fun!

This morning we had our neighborhood Easter egg hunt and it was a lot of fun. We’re so thankful for Melanie for putting it together. Lindsay helped me fill the eggs before we left and she was a little confused when there was still candy left but no more eggs to fill. We were only a little bit late considering the morning we had. I forgot we were supposed to be there at 9:30 to hide the eggs and so about 20 minutes before, Jeff mentioned it and so we had to rush to get them ready and get me showered and when we were almost ready Logan tripped and hit his mouth and cut that little flap of skin that connects your upper lip to your gums. Blood everywhere!! It was a little bit scary because we didn’t know if we needed to take him to the hospital but we figured they wouldn’t do anything for that anyway. So after calming him down and making sure he was okay we were off to the hunt. It was just me and the kids because Jeffy was off to Walmart to try and beat the day before Easter crowd. I hid the eggs and then about 20 minutes later they got started and Lindsay found her 10 eggs really fast!! She was scoping out the eggs before we started so it was pretty fast. Logan probably would have had fun finding the eggs too if he hadn’t been in so much pain so I just held him with his blankie. Anyway, here are some pictures!

Jeffy and I went on a date tonight and it was a lot of fun. I’ve been sick since Tuesday and am still not feeling great but good enough to go out and it was really nice. We called Kathryn Hacking to babysit for us again and Lindsay was so super excited about it she talked about her all day long! And when Jeffy pulled up in the driveway and Kathryn got out Lindsay just ran to her and gave her a big hug, which made me feel good and I’m sure Kathryn really enjoyed that as well. It’s always nice to know your kids like the babysitter. Logan, however, went to follow us to the car when he saw us walking to it so Kathryn had to pull him back and then he proceeded to watch us drive off until we went around the corner. But he did great, as I knew he would. He’s not one to hold a grudge.
Jeffy and I were going to dinner at La Vigna and then to see ‘Vantage Point’. But first we of course had to run to Walmart because that’s what you do when you live out here. Every time you have the opportunity to go to a store you take it! I needed to get more medicine and some eggs for our neighborhood Easter egg hunt tomorrow morning so we stopped there on our way. We had a yummy dinner and then headed off to the movie which was really good and VERY intense. I couldn’t believe how many times I jumped over the same thing. I recommend it. Although they do add that one f-word just because they can but other than that it was very good. And I love the dates that you have a lot of fun and still get you home at a decent time so you’re not too tired the next day. Anyway, good night!

Tonight for bedtime Lindsay chose the book ‘The Foot Book’ by Dr. Seuss to read and because she has just gone crazy with the whole reading thing she likes to read the page along with me. So, after reading a page she then wanted to count how many feet there were and once again I realized that she always skips the number 16 when counting. I don’t know why! She can say the word ‘sixteen’ but in her mind it goes …15, 17… and I always correct her but she still forgets every time. I hope this doesn’t mean she’ll have anxieties about the number 16 when she’s older. I hope her 16th birthday is a good one.
Another amazing thing I wanted to share with you is something else actually to do with numbers. Our neighbors have a little girl named, Lily, who comes over and plays quite a bit, which we love. Well, we love it a lot when they get along, but when they don’t it’s no fun. Anyway, today they took turns hiding our Easter eggs (which we have 11) and having Easter egg hunts. So, this particular time Lindsay had hid the eggs and then she was sort of ‘helping’ Lily find the eggs and after awhile Lily counted the eggs and she had 8 and our of nowhere Lindsay said, “Okay, you have 8. You only have 3 more to find!” ????? Did she just do math? In her HEAD?? She didn’t count on her fingers or anything. She just knew it. It was incredible. Jeff and I looked at each other as if to make sure we both heard her correctly. She is just so stinkin’ smart!

We had an appointment for Logan this morning with a Pediatric Urologist at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake. Our appointment was at 8:30am which meant we had to wake up way early and leave here by 7am. The kids did get up early, 3AM early!!! It was soo weird! They both were just awake for whatever reason and Jeffy and I were actually awake, too, probably just because we knew the kids were awake. So, finally around 4:30am I got up with them and took them downstairs and hung out until it was time to go. We took him to see the urologist because part of his circumcision has grown back and so our pediatrician said that he should get it snipped and he didn’t feel comfortable enough doing it there at the office so he referred us to the hospital. He did say he needed to get just the one spot snipped again and then he should be good to go. His appointment is April 22 and I am not looking forward to it. It was hard enough the first time and now that he’s older it’s just going to be harder. The doctor said he’ll either have to be strapped down or we’ll have to hold him down for the cut and he said it shouldn’t bleed very much and shouldn’t really hurt, but just be sore. Poor little dude. Hopefully, his wiener will cooperate this time and we won’t have to do it again!
