Today was the day we took the kids to the dentist, the first time for both of them. Lindsay did really well and just laid there as the lady brushed her teeth with that spinning brush and then flossed her teeth, which I have to admit I think I’ve done that once with her. She did get a little nervous when the dentist came in and started looking at her teeth with that scraper thing. She got a little sad but he was super fast that by the time she started to cry it was over. Her teeth are all really good except that he does see some signs of weak teeth so we just need to be careful and be sure to brush her teeth at least twice a day. After she was done they gave her a new toothbrush and some stickers and she was so proud of herself. Yay Lindsay!

The main reason we finally got them to the dentist was because we discovered that Logan has some teeth problems. I’ve noticed that all his teeth have what looks like chunks of enamel coming off and sure enough that’s what is going on. He has SUPER weak teeth and they are basically crumbling little by little. He’ll need to have crowns put on all of his teeth, even his baby teeth, to keep them from breaking into pieces. The dentist doesn’t want to have to do the crowns until he’s about 21 or 22 months old and so until then we need to take him back once a month so that the dentist can put an antibiotic cream on his teeth to help kill the germs that cause cavities. And so on top of that we just need to be careful with him and be strict about brushing his teeth. He didn’t really enjoy the dentist looking in his mouth but overall he did a good job.

We don’t have dental insurance and so we asked how much it would cost to come back once a month for the antibiotic cream, just because we were curious, and the dentist said he would do it for free because Logan desperately needs it. I think he thought we were going to flake out and not come because of the cost so he jumped the gun and offered to pay it for us. We’re not arguing!! We would have paid whatever the price because Logy is worth it! Dental insurance is offered through Jeff’s work but most of the time you end up paying more than you actually use a year. But we may check on the price of the crowns to see if would be worth it to pay for the insurance or not. Anyway, it was a good trip to the dentist even though there are some problems. We’ll manage, no problem!
