This is for you mom. For FHE tonight we decorated eggs and had an easter egg hunt. But first we obviously sang songs, recited Articles of Faith, had a lesson on the Resurrection and of Christ dying for us on the cross and then we had the hunt. But first I need to tell you about my conversation with my mom last week about Easter. I had mentioned to her that this year we were going to do an Easter basket for the kids for the first time and that I was really excited about it. I didn’t get the kids anything fancy to put in their baskets. In fact, Logan is just getting goldfish crackers and Lindsay is getting some stickers and little stamps that cost $1 a Walmart. Anyway, she told me that the reason she stopped giving us Easter baskets was because one year she asked us what Easter was all about and we said the Easter Bunny and she said that was the end of that. So tonight when we started our lesson on Easter we asked Lindsay that same question and yep, sure enough, her answer was the Easter Bunny. I just had to laugh because she’s only 3! I can’t stop now, it’s too much fun for me. But of course she did practically tell us the whole story of Christ dying on the cross and waking up and “being all better” all by herself so I know she truly understands what Easter is about. The Easter egg hunt was a lot of fun and we hid them twice for her and then she hid them for us to find. I did have to cheat a little and watch her to know where the eggs were so that we didn’t forget about one. It was a fun night. Happy Easter everyone!

1Ha! Isn’t it surprising what little kids pick up and you realize how little control you have over it. Have fun with your kids and the way you choose to celebrate the holidays. We did have fun coloring the eggs and having Easter egg hunts. Do you remember when Dad was so upset about dying the floor pink from coloring the eggs?
