As I was watering the lawn while Lindsay was riding her bike, I noticed a cool looking bug in the grass. I knelt down close to it and saw it was a beetle, one that I’d never seen before. I told Lindsay to hurry back because I wanted to show her something. Lindsay LOVES bugs and really enjoys watching them which is something I’m trying to enjoy more because everyone who knows me knows that I HATE bugs!!! I’m pretty sure crickets are of the devil. Anyway, I showed it to her and she asked if we could try to catch it. We had tried to catch a grasshopper last week but the little bugger was too fast! Darn it.
So, the good mother that I am, I went inside to get a glass and some paper and we did catch the beetle. We showed it to daddy and then I told her we should probably go put it back outside or else it would die. She didn’t really want to take it back outside because she said she loved him but then she decided that maybe he missed his family so then she was okay to let him go. So, here is our little friend. I’m just glad she didn’t name it and get too attached. Right mom?

My baby is old enough to ride a bike? I guess so. We went to Walmart yesterday and bought her a cute little bike with training wheels. It was a surprise to her because I hadn’t mentioned it to her at all that day and so when I told her what we were doing she was super excited! She wanted to ride the bike the whole time we were in the store but somehow we convinced her she couldn’t do that. We got it home and she was able to ride it for about a half an hour before dinner and she couldn’t wait to ride it again in the morning.
As I was kissing her goodnight she said, “Mommy, I want to show Playgroup my bike tomorrow.”
Me: “Okay. Maybe you could even ride it all the way over there.”
L: “YEAH!”
So she did. She rode it all the way to Playgroup’s house and all the way back and is having a lot of fun with it. We were just outside for about an hour during Logan’s nap and the whole time she just went back and forth between little Emily’s house and Patti’s house. Cute girl. I still can’t believe she’s old enough to have a bike but then again, if she can read she can ride a bike, right? Too fun!
