Our house had 5 living creatures in it for most of the day yesterday instead of 4. When the kids and I were outside we found a caterpillar on our driveway and Lindsay was sold! She loved watching him move and get “smaller and bigger” and after awhile she asked if she could hold it. So, I got some grass to pick him up with and after holding him for a minute she asked if she could keep it. I thought to myself, “This could either be really awesome or totally disastrous” but decided that keeping it would be fine. So we went inside and showed daddy what we found and then went upstairs and rinsed out a jam jar, poked some hoes in the top, found some grass, leaves and a stick and put Mr. Caterpillar in the jar and closed the lid. She sat on the floor and just watched him crawl around for a little while but then all of a sudden it was lunch time and she was done. We went on our date and came home later than afternoon and looked in the jar and thought maybe he was dead because he wasn’t moving. We had come to terms with our poor little Caterpillars death, but then Lindsay said, “Maybe if we take him outside, he’ll wake up.” Jeff thought she was just in denial but it turns out she was right! They shook him out and away he crawled. Lindsay was so happy and was really okay with letting him go. It would have been neat if we could have watched him in his chrysalis and become a butterfly, but at the same time I’m relieved to not have to constantly feed him and take him everywhere. It was really fun to see the kids reaction to the caterpillar. Lindsay loves bugs but even Logan loved touching him and watching him. Gotta love the bugs!

My friend Katie invited us and some other friends to sign up for a Princess Tea Party for the girls at the City Center for today. I’ve been wanting to take Lindsay to it since we’ve moved here but I always sign up too late but we finally got in this year. All the girls got to wear a princess dress and Miss Eagle Mountain was there and they took pictures with her, had some cookies and ‘tea’ (juice), Miss Eagle Mountain read a story and then they decorated picture frames to put their picture in. It was a little unorganized but the girls had fun being together in their cute little dresses. Poor little Logan. He wasn’t the only boy there but the only boy in our group so he stayed in the stroller and was pretty content with his Teddy Grahams. I should have just put a dress on him and called it good. Not really. I should really try to find a prince outfit for him. Wouldn’t he be so cute?? I’m totally going to find one or make him one then he can hate me later for making him wear it. Anyway, it was a good time.

Are any of them listening?

Lindsay entertaining herself during the story. We couldn’t hear it at all. Oh well.

Lindsay and I had our very first mommy/daughter date yesterday afternoon and we had a lot of fun! I totally admit I stole this idea from Heidi but really it’s all her fault for having such a GOOD idea!! And our girls just like the exact same things. We first went and saw Wall-E and I really enjoyed it and Lindsay liked it for the most part. There was some crying and for those of you who have seen the movie, it was when Eve shuts down for the first time after meeting Wall-E. As she was crying she was saying, “I just don’t want her to close her eyes because it’s making Wall-E sad!” I tried to tell her it would all be okay but what finally got her to stop was that I told her we’d have to leave if she couldn’t stop and then she was okay. Anyway, I really liked it. It was so cute. Then afterwards we went and got our fingernails painted. I was a little nervous about her getting it done just because you have to hold still but she did a great job! I had told her before we left that she was going to need to hold very still or else they would get ruined and for the most part, she did great. The lady did flowers on her big toes and one of them got ruined right after she did it but that’s okay. It was really fun to watch her all excited about picking out her own color and watching the lady paint them. She loved it. I enjoyed spending one on one time with her and I could tell she enjoyed it to. Thanks Jeffy for watching Logan so that we could do that. It was the first of many.
