Well, technically, New York will never be HERE in Utah, but in a little over two days, WE will be in New York!

I’ve never been to Yankee Stadium, and ever since they announced that they were tearing it down after this season, I’ve been hoping to get to a game there this summer. We were originally going to be attending a wedding in New York this past June, but that fell through, so we had to come up with other plans. I’ve always been planning on it, but I was getting worried that it would be one of those things you plan on doing until it’s too late to actually do it.

But then I was talking to my cousin Nathan on the phone a couple months ago, and he mentioned that he and his wife were thinking about heading out to New York to catch a Yankee game the weekend of his wife’s birthday. I said that we were thinking about going sometime too, and we decided to plan it together. So this Thursday, they will fly from LAX and we will fly from Salt Lake, and we’ll meet up in New York for a quick little trip. (We had some initial concerns about flying to New York on September 11, but we got over it.) We’ll do some sightseeing on Friday (Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park, etc.), then hit the Yankees/Rays game that night. On Saturday, we’ll do the Statue of Liberty and maybe some other stuff, then we’ll split up, because Bethy and I are going to see Wicked on Broadway (FedEx is delivering our tickets tomorrow morning!). Then we’ll get up very early Sunday morning and fly home.

It will be a quick, exhausting trip, but I’m hoping there will be some first-class seats available so we can upgrade at the airport, and then maybe we can get some sleep (at least on the way home). Our wonderful friend Emily is watching the kids for us (because she’s wonderful), and it’s going to be a great way to celebrate our fifth anniversary a few weeks late.

So, I thought I’d let you all know that I’m starting to feel better! Yay! I really do FEEL better, I just don’t have much energy still. The kids wake up at 7am and by 9am, I’m exhausted!! So, the mornings are long and yesterday, my visiting teacher took Lindsay for me during Logan’s nap so that I could get some rest also, and that worked wonders!! I felt so much better the rest of the day and was able to get things done, including a really fun FHE down at BYU. We took the kids down to Provo and had a picnic dinner at Kiwanis Park, where Jeffy and I used to walk to when we were dating. Then we had FHE there on the blanket and talked about families and the plan of salvation a little bit. Then we played with the kids on the playground and that was really a lot of fun! Then we took them for a drive around Provo and BYU and showed Lindsay where we used to live, the park where Jeffy proposed to me and then to the Creamery for some yummy ice cream. It was fun going down memory lane and sharing all of that with the kids. Lindsay really enjoyed it and Logan seemed to have fun. On the way out of BYU, I noticed the duck pond and wished we had done that, but there is always next time. Anyway, so I’m feeling better, still have a lingering cough, but nothing is painful anymore so it’s been really good. Thanks so much to all of our friends who helped with the kids. It meant so much and it really helped a ton! We love you guys!
