We have been having beautiful weather here this week and it’s been so much fun spending so much time outside. Lindsay has been adding new “tricks” to her list of things she can do on the swing set. She has added jumping out of the swing and hanging upside down on the bar. I have to constantly remind myself that she’s going to be fine and what fun is being a kid if you can’t explore new (and perhaps dangerous) new things? She is so fun to watch on the swing set because she seriously isn’t scared to at least try something once. I love that about her. As brave as she is, you can constantly hear her talking to herself saying things like, “Okay, this is going to be harder than I thought.” and “You can do it!” It’s pretty cute. Logan has learned a few tricks from Lindsay but luckily he doesn’t try to do the things that I know he would get seriously hurt if he did. He really likes to play with his trucks. Between dirt and wood chips, he has a variety of things to put in his trucks and then he sends them down the slide. He likes to walk back and forth along the retaining wall and almost always trips and makes my heart skip a beat. He’s such a boy.
We have a fun sand/water table in the back and last year, a cat pooped in the sand thinking it was a litter box and I didn’t get a chance to clean it out before it snowed so it’s been in there ALL winter. Needless to say, it was gross when I opened it up this week and almost puked cleaning it out. I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed some more until I felt like it was clean enough for my kids to play in. We bought new sand and we were good to go. The kids have had fun with it, building sand castles and houses and having boat races on the water table.
Yesterday afternoon I called Jeff and asked him if he had bishopric meetings that night and he said he didn’t, so I suggested that he go to Walmart and buy a fire pit, s’mores necessities, and I would invite some friends over. So we did and we had a fun time chatting around the fire while the kids played, making s’mores.
The evening was filled with a little of everything. Logan gave Harlie a nice big messy chocolate kiss.
Logan actually acknowledged something Niki said and even got close to her (he’s been super shy around her lately).
Niki won the prize for most burnt marshmallow.
Lindsay and Ashlee would ask to be ‘blasted off’ and so I would swing them SUPER high. Giggles all around.
We spent a good five minutes watching Jeff hit himself in the face with a marshmallow, trying to throw it up in the air and catch it in his mouth. It was a little windy so that made it difficult. Every time he missed, he had to throw it higher. Good times.
And as with every get together with lots of kids, someone is bound to get hurt. Hannah walked right behind Lindsay on the swing and got hit. And just a few minutes later, Lindsay fell backwards out of the swing trying to jump out of it. Not really sure how that happened…They are both just fine.
We love the friends we have made out here and always enjoy spending time with them. Until next time guys!
