This morning before I left for work, Lindsay and I were talking, and somehow we got on the topic of New York. We ended up discussing New York’s subway system, which fascinated her. The conversation then went like this:
Lindsay: “Did you take the trains to the airport?”
Jeff: “No, we actually took a taxi.”
Lindsay: “What’s a taxi?”
Jeff: “It’s a car that someone else drives, and you pay him to take you places.”
Lindsay: “Oh, yeah, I know taxi. Was it yellow?”
Jeff: “It sure was.”
Lindsay: “Did it have numbers on the top?”
Jeff: “I think it was a letter and three numbers, but yes.”
Lindsay: “Was there a rectangle with a light and the numbers on it?”
Jeff: “Yep. How do you know so much about taxis?”
Lindsay: “Well, I just have a magically brain.”
Magically brain indeed.

2Ah, the wonders of a four year old. It is amazing how much they can store in that magically brain at that age. I am amazed at how much I can talk to the kids at school and they can understand me. The trick is to get them to be quiet long enough to listen.
