It seems like he’s learned a lot of new things this past week leading up to his ten month birthday. He learned how to clap, blow kisses, do that finger to mouth thing to make the funny noises, and even took a few steps. Ryan has always been very social, but this week he blossomed into an even more social butterfly. He loves to smile at people and I love that little smile so I’m happy we get to see it a lot! He knows how to wave, but most of the time he just holds his hand up when someone waves to him. I think it’s like the guy version of the head bob. They don’t actually say hi they just bob their head. It’s his little dude way of saying hi. So cute. Ryan loves to play peek-a-boo and he’ll put the blanket over his head by himself and then act like he doesn’t know how to get it off when really he does. I think he’s going to be a tease when he’s older. Sometimes when he thinks something is REALLY funny he’ll throw his head back when he laughs and it’s entirely too cute! He also loves to make faces at the camera.

Ryan is such a joy and I love having him in our family! Happy 10 months little dude!

Most of what we did involved food and turning it an unnatural shade of green. The kids loved it! For breakfast I made green pancakes.

For lunch Jeff made green Mac and Cheese.

And for dinner Jeff made green grilled cheese sandwiches. We didn’t think this was going to work, but it turned out great!

We also colored their milk. Lindsay had green milk, but Logan didn’t want green so he picked yellow.

They went outside after lunch and made a trap to catch a leprechaun and at one point I caught them sitting very still on the grass waiting. Their trap consisted of a bowl, spoon and medicine cup full of wheatgrass that Logan is growing from preschool. Very cute.

It was a lot of fun and I think they enjoyed it!

I love my boys!! I really need to keep some dirt around just so they can get dirty in it.

Snow for Logan means there is work to do!

This year for his party he wanted a Cars 2 theme. I know a lot of people didn’t like Cars 2 because they thought it had too much adult content or whatever because of the “torture” and “death” that’s in it. Well, WHATEVER, I thought it was about time we had some good old fashion boy stuff going on! Logan loves it and he loves that they are spies and that gadgets come out of nowhere when they need them. It’s a cool, cool movie. So, like always I went nuts with the decorations but it’s all totally worth it. Logan’s favorite new character from Cars 2 is Finn McMissle so I got a huge poster of him that Logan was so excited about!

We had Cars 2 stickers for the walls, dangly things, happy birthday banner, centerpiece, pinata and cake. Woot woot!

I set my alarm for earlier that morning so that we could be up when he was so that he could open his presents, but he surprised us all and slept in for awhile. But he was ready to go when he saw them!

Angry Birds game that is totally fun!

Then the morning was spent playing with his new toys until it was time to go to preschool. The Angry Birds game really is lots of fun!

Playing with his new transformer that took mommy roughly 4 hours to transform into a truck. I’m sure it’ll be easier next time.

With his little working mind I’m sure he’ll be able to do it by himself soon.

After playing he went to preschool where he shared some treats with his class and they sang him happy birthday. Then when he got home it was time for the party!! He is part of a playgroup of boys so he invited all of them and a few neighbor boys and of course Lindsay.
The first thing we did was decorate race cars. I found these race car sticker that you then decorate with other stickers. They all had a blast with those!

Then it was time for the obstacle course! First, they went down the rollercoaster.

Then into the closet and through the window onto the beanbag.

Then they hopped on the ball to Lightning McQueen and then had to crawl in and then back out of McQueen. (Thank you Grandma Snider for the gift. It made the obstacle that much more fun!)


Then they had to stack the tires.

Then they had to crawl through the tunnel and behind the couch.

And then once they came around the couch it was a sprint to the finish line!

We did it one at a time and timed each one and whoever was the fastest won and it was Logan with a time of 33.3 seconds!!
After that we played a game of “Hot Ta-Mater” with a little Mater stuffed toy. The kids really enjoyed this one and it was simple and easy to play!


Then we played a Cars 2 scavenger hunt where they each had to find the 4 cars on their list. Logan and Lindsay were a team and they won this one!



Then it was cake time! Logan had a preschool field trip to Macey’s a little while ago and while we were there he noticed they make a Cars 2 cake so that’s what he wanted. It was super cute. He blew out all the candles in one go!

It ain’t no party without a pinata!

Then there were a few minutes left so they played downstairs until their moms came to get them. Having that many boys in one room at the same time means LOUD NOISE CONSTANTLY!! Poor Ryan didn’t speak for almost two hours because I honestly think he was too scared to. It was a beautiful sound when they all left and it was QUIET again. I love throwing parties for my kids and Logan said that this was the BEST PARTY EVER! I love this little man. He is a true gentleman at heart and is always opening doors for me and helping me carry things and I don’t even have to ask him to do it. He’s been an absolute joy to have in our family and I’m so excited to watch him continue to grow and learn! Love you Logy Man!

We got 5 tiny little caterpillar larvae that came in a jar with food already in it for them to eat. They were so tiny, like maybe as long as your pinky fingernail. I had never seen a caterpillar so small before. But they didn’t stay little for long. They ate and ate and ate got big, big, BIG!

After about 10 days of eating they eventually started to make their way to the top of the cup and hung upside down. It took a few days for them to make their chrysalids, but once they did they were good to go. One of them had fallen down so we thought he was a goner, but he wasn’t and came out as a disabled butterfly. His wings were bent and he flew/scooted around in circles. I didn’t get a good picture of them in their chrysalids, but once they had been in them for about 10 days we moved them into the butterfly net. It took a few days for them to start coming out, but once they did it was exciting! We would go to bed and wake up with another one, or Lindsay would go to school with two butterflies and come home to 4 butterflies. It was exciting!

We have 5 butterflies total and we had lots of fun making sure they had orange slices and a paper towel saturated with sugar water for food. We would say good morning to them every morning and good night every night. Lindsay wanted to name them all but that got confusing once she got started so she gave up on that idea and we just called them all ‘little guys’. Not sure why they were boys…

Unfortunately, they are starting to die. If we lived somewhere warm we would have set them free after a couple of days, but it’s just too cold here so we kept them inside. The instructions we got said they usually only live up to two weeks, but it’s been almost 4 so we got them longer than we expected. It has been lots of fun and the kids already can’t wait to get more. We’ll see.

Eating big boy foods. Pretty much anything except dairy products. He’s starting to try to pick food up and put it in his mouth, but I’m starting to think he has his daddy’s hatred of food on his hands. Guess we’ll see.

When he wakes up in the morning and from most naps he wakes up happy and plays in his crib and it’s so fun to hear him babbling through the monitor.

He likes to play the copy game. He makes a sound and I repeat it and then he makes a different sound and looks at me to see if I’ll copy him. So fun!

He LOVES to dance with Aunt Laura and they have a very special song.

He can twist his tongue and I’ve tried to get a picture of it but it’s hard to see in a picture.

I was eating a sandwich and it was on a plate on the couch and he had been trying to get to it and I kept moving and he finally gave up. But I love his face!

He is such a fun baby and we’re all so happy he’s part of our family! He is so sweet, especially with me because I’m the only one he gives kisses to. I’m so lucky!
